Vacation Contrasts ~ Same Results

We were on vacation. So was Lupita and her brothers.

We flew on a plane into Oaxaca, Mexico during school vacation.  Lupita and her family walked to the city from their village ten miles away.   We stayed at a five star hotel. They set up camp on the street. We wanted to see the colorful sights of the  city. They were at the heart of the colorful sights.  We brought spending money with us. Lupita brought her accordian and made their spending money performing during the day.

We had a great time.  So did they.

  1. Hi Chris,

Personally, I love this. You state the simularities and differences in such a way that they are irrelivant to what really matters…our spirit of being happy.
    Thank you…Very proufound, wise woman.

  3. You guys make me really envious. I would like to have seen what you saw. As you know I really love Mexico and the Mexican people. I was taken by the dedication of this “Nina” and her obvious talent. Accordions aren’t light. I imagine she carries it the ten miles a day. I know few people that would have done that when they were her age or would do it as a grown up. If she has a place to store the accordion in order not having to carry it the 10 mile trek alone still shows her commitment to help provide extra centavos (and I hope a peso often) for her family. Thanks for sharing the pictures and thoughts.
    Love,
    Uncle Bill and Becky

  4. Thanks all for you comments. It was fun meeting Lupita and her brothers. They spent a week in Oaxaca with their parents. I love the innocence of children. Chris
