“How many bad books the world may yet be spared because of the busyness of writers.”~ Gore Vidal

Yes, I’ve been busy.  Who isn’t?

We all have things to do.  The bright side is that most of us have a reason for getting out of bed in the morning and that’s a good start.  Get up, get dressed, show up!

Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if I had nothing to do, no goals, no commitments,  no obligations, just pure leisure time.   (I suspect it would be boring but I wouldn’t mind trying it for a day or two)

If all goes according to plan my novel, “the one”  I’ve been yacking about on and off…will be ready this spring.  Ready to find an agent… who will be ready to find a publisher… who will be ready to find a market…..

I resolve not to….

I’m starting my first post of 2009 shamelessly copying an idea from Jenny Cruise a writer whose blog I follow.  Her resolve list for 2009 is everything I also do not want to do or be.  You can read her list here

I have some additions to her “I resolve not to”… do in 2009

-  not to let unimportant things bother me.

- not to spend so much time surfing the net under the guise of research for my writing, or for the markets I’m going to send my writing to.

- not let someone else’s problems become my own distraction.

- not tell people anymore that I’m a writer until I have pushed myself forward and found  an agent for my novel.

- not to think the few things I’ve had published don’t count.  They do count.

- not to feel guilty about anything, believe that I’m doing my best.

…So how about it, do you have anything your resolve not to do this year?
